I'm an MSU student, living in a dorm. I believe I have a health condition that is made worse because of the dorm, but I've already paid for my room. Can I ever be released from my contract?

Yes, however, contract release is based on a review of pertinent medical records documenting medical necessity.

When students apply for Residence Hall Contract release or for an air conditioner in a residence hall, this process is initiated through with the residence hall manager.

If the request is related to a medical condition the University Physician will review medical documentation of a pre-existing problem and will evaluate medical necessity. The review for medical necessity is communicated to the residence hall manager, who makes a final decision and notifies the student.
