Criteria for Consideration for AED approval at MSU (central campus)

  1. Interest on part of unit, or recommendation from Central administration, (Poston, Wilcox,) after discussion.
  2. Significant data that indicate that population in building has a significant high proportion of people over 55-60 in the building.
  3. Data that indicate time for EMS arrival is over 3-4 minutes the majority of the time, or prolonged construction that impairs EMS access.
  4. Activity in the building that significantly increases the likelihood of cardiac arrythmia’s that are life threatening.
  5. Regulatory requirement for AED for grant funding or accreditation
  6. Commitment to providing records on a yearly basis that documents training of employees and regular equipment maintenance records.
  7. Commitment to MSU’s designated vendor
  8. Consistency and interface with East Lansing and Meridian EMS.
  9. Tamper proof wall-mounted containers for AED's.
  10. Other
