MSU faculty and staff,
As we approach the beginning of influenza season, it’s important that you take action to protect yourself by getting your annual flu shot.
The MSU Health Care Pharmacy will be hosting a flu shot clinic during the upcoming MSU Benefits Fair at the Breslin Student Events Center Oct. 3. The clinic will run from noon to 5 p.m. and an appointment is required. Flu vaccines are available for eligible employees, retirees and their benefits-eligible dependents (12 years and older) covered under an MSU health plan. Claims will be processed on-site, most with a $0 co-pay. Individuals should bring their prescription benefit card if they are not a current patient at either campus pharmacy.
Additional flu clinic dates and locations are shared below. The MSU Health Care Pharmacy on Hagadorn Road also provides flu shots for MSU employees if the dates below do not work for your schedule. An appointment is required and can be scheduled online at pharmacy.msu.edu . For most employees with insurance, there is no cost for the vaccine.
As you plan a time to receive your annual flu shot, I encourage you to stay updated on your COVID-19 vaccine. Current guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends everyone ages 6 months and older receive an updated 2024-25 COVID-19 vaccine regardless of whether you have ever previously been vaccinated with a different COVID-19 vaccine. Receiving an updated 2024-25 COVID-19 vaccine can restore and enhance protection against the virus variants currently responsible for most infections and hospitalizations in the United States.
The updated 2024-25 COVID-19 vaccines are available at the MSU Health Care Pharmacy. An appointment is required and can be scheduled online . Special clinics will be available in October and December. You also can check with various community health care providers on vaccine availability off campus.
And, if you need a COVID-19 test, the federal government shared that they are bringing back free at-home COVID-19 rapid test kits. Every U.S. household can receive four free rapid tests delivered directly to their home. More information is available at covid.gov/tests .
