Sept. 25, 2023: Get your flu shot

MSU Faculty and Staff,
As we approach the beginning of influenza season, it’s important that you take action to protect yourself by getting your annual flu shot.

This fall, Michigan State University is hosting several clinics for employees, retirees and their dependents ages six months and older to receive a free flu shot at various campus locations. Our first clinic is Monday, Oct. 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in rooms 3405A and B in the Engineering Building. No appointment is necessary, and there is NO cost to you.

Additional dates and locations are shared below. The MSU Health Care Pharmacy on Hagadorn Road also provides flu shots for MSU employees if the dates below do not work for your schedule. An appointment is required; the pharmacy can be reached by calling (517) 353-3500. For most employees with insurance, there is no cost for the vaccine.

As you plan a time to receive your annual flu shot, I encourage you to stay updated on your COVID-19 vaccine. Staying updated on your vaccinations will provide better protection against COVID-19 and its subvariants during this cold and flu season. While COVID-19 vaccines are not yet available at the MSU Health Care Pharmacy, you can use this Centers for Disease Control and Prevention site to see if you are up to date and schedule your appointment online through various community health care providers. The MSU Health Care Pharmacy does plan to update their web site once they have the COVID-19 vaccine available.

Recently, the federal government announced that they are bringing back free at-home COVID-19 rapid test kits. Every U.S. household is able to receive four free rapid tests delivered directly to their home. More information can be found at covid.gov/tests.

Additional information regarding COVID-19 guidance and resources can be found on MSU’s Together We Will site.
